HemCell Resin has a number of processing advantages over virgin PLA or other bioplastics and can in most cases be used on existing matrix-machine combinations.
As the downloadable MSDS sheet shows, it can be processed at a mass temperature of 170-175 degrees Celsius with a matrix temperature of just 35 degrees C. Flow and mechanical properties such as elasticity, tensile strength and impact have also been greatly improved and are readily available in some formulations for specific applications.
HemCell Resin is REACH compliant, TUV Food Contact Safe OM3 and has excellent OTR values.
HDT is also higher than regular virgin PLA at +/- 80 degrees Celsius, where temporary thermoplastic properties come to the fore for other kinds of specific applications where the material has to be custom-made in a new shape.
But what is especially interesting for designers and processors is the specific weight, which, depending on the formula, is around 1, whereas all bioplastics work out at 1.25-1.35.
With a material shrinkage factor of 1, all in all this offers processors considerable advantages that translate well in terms of financial returns.
